Causes Miscarriage
The causes miscarriage often cannot be discovered, however infections could be contributing causes such as vaginal discharge and the genital virus human papillomavirus.
It is thought that up to 50 percent of miscarriages are due to a spontaneous genetic or structural abnormality in the baby. Most of these tend to occur at the time of fertilization. This can cause the new baby not to develop properly, or to die after only a few weeks of the pregnancy. The cause of miscarriage often cannot be discovered. Most early pregnancy losses cannot be prevented.

Most women who have had a spontaneous abortion go on to have healthy pregnancies later. Even women with repeated miscarriages have a 70 to 85 percent chance of carrying another pregnancy to term. A woman should wait a few months after she has miscarried before trying to conceive again.
